Approx 15 thousand Lego pieces, a year in planning and building prototypes and you end up with this – an internally lit scale model of the USS Reliant from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan by Christer Nyberg akaMyko.
“I realised quickly that it would be impossible to construct a large scale USS Enterprise purely from LEGO, so I had to look for another ship. The USS Reliant is much more compact and less spindly, so it seemed a suitable candidate”

Anthony Sforza has built an extraordinary Star Trek museum in the basement of his Long Island home. He has been collecting Star Trek memorabilia for years, but decided in 2010 that it was time build a worthy display for his collection.
It took three years and more than 1,500 hours to complete and is worth an estimated $500,000.
Basing his overall design on theNX-01Enterprise, from the TV series of the same name, the collection contains replica weapons, uniforms, props, action figures and memorabilia from the popular franchise including original screen used items.
“It was very difficult to find the materials that they used on the show, I tried to call them but getting an answer was impossible.”
“Fortunately I was able to purchase a piece of the original set which I pulled apart to find out the exact paint and materials that were used,” he said. “That’s how I created the basement.”
His two sons, Michael and Daniel couldn’t be happier with their father’s decision to transform their basement into a Star Trek mecca.
“I think that it’s cool because he has all the belts and badges and everything” said Daniel.
“I would love to do something like this when I’m older” added Michael.
His wife, Annette, has given Sforza her complete support of his phenomenal basement recreation.
“I think it’s wonderful, I admire him so much for being able to put vision into something like this and for it to look so incredible,” she said. “It’s wonderful and I’m so proud of him.”
Rob Wixey at the world premier of StarTrek: Into the Darkness in his impressive soapbox Starship.
Avid Trek fan Rob Wixey cycled to the red carpet event in the two metre wide and three metre long soapbox racer which took him and three friends two months to build.
He entered the craft into the Red Bull Soapbox race at Alexandra Palace. The organisers were so impressed with the racer that they gave him tickets to the premiere.
Mr Wixey said: “Only yesterday I entered into a sci-fi short film contest judged by Benedict Cumberbatch and now I will be watching the Star Trek premiere with him – the whole experience is overwhelming.”
“People’s reactions to the Starship today have been brilliant – they loved it.
The USS Enterprise racer is made from fibreglass and a steel framework that is welded to half a bike with inverted handlebars for ease of steering.
