Geeky cakes at Cake International 2016

This years Cake International show was held on the 16th – 17th April 2016, at Alexandra Palace, London, UK. Of interest to myself, as always, were the wonderfully geeky movie, television and fantasy cakes that are skilfully created by hard working fondant masters for this event. Life-size Batman v Superman and Maleficent, castles, creatures, Rocket and Groot and Best in Show Albert Einstein by Dinky Doodle Dawn. Now, where’s my fork?

If you are the creator / artist of any of these magical cakes feel free to drop me a message at killer-kitsch@hotmail.co.uk so I can add a credit / link. Photographers are credited with each image.

Preston Comic-Con 2015

Welcome to the Killer Kitsch Preston Comic-Con 2015 blog from Saturday 1st August 2015. I rolled up at lunchtime and still found a sizeable queue for the second Comic-Con held at the Guild Hall in Preston. Stalls-a-plenty, guests & talks, a prop display area, cosplay, artists alley, writers, crafter’s and cakes. Spent a few hours wandering, chatting, taking photos/video and generally making a nuisance of myself.

Full image gallery including more cosplay, stalls and merchandise via my Flickr album and YouTube video.

Volkswagen T1 superhero rides by Chungkong

Volkswagen T1 superhero rides by Netherlands based designer Chungkong.

Superman is fortunate, he can fly. Other superheroes aren’t quite so lucky, having spent their childhoods as mere mortals before being bitten by a radioactive spider or witnessing their parents demise down a back alley. Most of them require something a little extra to get from A to B. What if they couldn’t afford fancy cars, planes, armoured suits or sticky fluid and instead preferred to customise a T1 Volkswagen Van and hit the mean streets as low budget vigilantes Kick-Ass style?
