As we know, huge robots, mobile suits and such like are a big thing in Japan. With this in mind Japanese artist Aburaya Tonbi 油屋とんび has illustrated a series of Marvel / Gundam mashups including the current Avengers line-up of Captain∀merica, Wing Gundam “Thor”, Hulk Unicorn, Gelgoog Marine Hawkeye, Gerbera Black Widow and Iron Man Type 100. If it was an animated series, I’d watch it.
You can find more of Aburaya Tonbi’s work over on Pixiv. The artist deletes sketches from his account and uploads new versions, I’ve got several more deleted Marvel Gundam illustrations for another post (coming soon).
Loving these highly detailed pencil drawings by godot_23. The artist posts regular updates on WEBSTA showing the progress of his works that gives you a sense of the time and effort that’s put into each drawing. Here we have Marvel’s Spider-Man and Iron Man along with Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman and Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker. Currently working on Deadpool, you can see more of godot_23’s work here.

Phil Postma has been a character designer for over 20 years in TV animation working on projects such as Flash Gordon and The Mask: Animated Series. His body of work can only be described as super geeky cool and can be seen over on his blog at the Minion-Factory.
The sheer quantity of quality illustrations would fill many articles, so I have picked out my favourite packaging and action figure re-designs from classic lines such as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Star Wars, Marvel’s Secret Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Six Million Dollar Man. If you feel like supporting an artist today go grab one of the many Minion-Factory t-shirt designs available at Redbubble.
Just received the May Marvel Comics themed Zavvi ZBOX (don’t click that link yet!), it’s a mixed bunch of fun things lovingly picked out for you and sent directly to your doorstep for only £19.99. Does this represent good value for money? Let’s find out….
The box arrived late afternoon, well packaged in a mailer bag that was tough and sturdy (requiring scissors). It was at this point I whipped out my camera and filmed an Unboxing video which can be found HERE on YouTube . Upon opening I was greeted by the mighty Captain Iron Pool and a smorgasbord of delights (see below), then I made my video and the items ended up magically displayed like this……
Marvel Funko Pop! I got Black Widow which is good considering the general lack of female toys doing the rounds at the moment. She looks great and wobbles nicely (steady on boys).
NECA Scalers Silver Spider-Man that seems to have taken up pole dancing as a new profession. Attach the little fella to headphones or another cable and you’re guaranteed to look like a swinger.
Topps Avengers Hero Attax tin and unpunched cards (see unboxing video for my terrible pronunciation problems). I’ve never played this game but the cards and tin are very nice.
The History Channel – Stan Lee’sSuperhumans Season One DVD set. Five and a half hours of super human documentary goodness.
Marvel Secret Wars 001 ZBOX exclusive variant cover. The multiverse is dying. Only two universes remain. Today, Earths collide.
June Issue 232 of Total Film featuring the Incredible Hulk on the cover. Movies, comics, games, TV and more in a slick looking glossy magazine plus a special subscription offer if you’re feeling that way inclined.
Marvel Comics temporary tattoos, which I might take to a party tomorrow night and see what happens after a few beers.
Spider-Man candy sticks, edible white things with a fun little sticker inside.
The ZBOX Marvellous magazine.
An all together impressive array of all things Marvel Comics for a reasonable price. Next month sees Cops as the theme and we’re already promised a Judge Dredd item, which it all rather exciting. You can place your order for the next Zavvi ZBOX here and watch my YouTube Unboxing Video here.

“In my very distant past I worked for Bermans and Nathans Theatrical and Film Costumers in London, where I made wonderful and interesting things such as elf costumes for Santa Claus the Movie, Egyptian mummies for Young Sherlock Holmes and accessories for Indiana Jones. Later I worked as a seamstress with the designer John Galliano.”
Two versions of the new poster for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron have hit the net today.
Possibly as a pre-cursor to Civil War we have either Captain America or Iron Man leading the pack of superheroes. Nice artwork and some interesting names on the credits including Anthony Mackie, Hayley Atwell, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgard and Danny Elfman. Wait a minute, Danny Elfman? Mmmm my Spider Sense is tingling.
French artist Alberto Varanda has a wonderful series of Superheroes and Villains depicted as children ‘Little Heroes World’. That kitty cat in Catkids grasp looks appalled. Loads more on the artists website.
