Pimp My Star Wars Ride

Jaw-dropping Star Wars car, a one off custom paint job by Sam Hubbard of Airbrush Perfections. Filled with images from all eras of Star Wars, the Dark Side is well represented here with Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Kylo Ren and the forces of The Empire all beautifully re-created.

MyStarWarsCar” is available for conventions and charity functions in the UK, the owner had this to say – “I’m a lifelong Star Wars fan and car enthusiast, so I decided to do something a little different to my car. With the help of Sam Hubbard, an airbrushing specialist, I have had Sam airbrush the car with images of infamous characters from the [Star Wars] films. “

“My aim is to use MyStarWarsCar for good causes, whether it be attending events for charity or visiting hospital/hospices just to put a smile on peoples faces. The intention is to do as much ‘good’ as is reasonably possible.”

Monsters – digital illustrations of horror classics by Ian Skelton

Digital illustrations of Universal Studios and 1980’s monsters by designer Ian Skelton. I remember watching the black & white horror classics Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Mummy as a young boy. When the late 70s and 80s hit we were introduced to a whole new breed of iconic horror movies and TV shows including Hellraiser, The Evil Dead, Critters and Tales from the Crypt. Striking Game of Thrones illustrations by Drumond Art

George R.R. Martin’s best-selling book series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire‘ arrived on the small screen in 2011 as the HBO series ‘Game of Thrones‘, immediately whipping up a fan and media frenzy. The series, set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, interweaves several plot lines with a broad ensemble cast, some of whom became firm favourites before meeting a merciless end. Others have endured their burden only to find themselves tortured, betrayed, poisoned or sent to the wall. It’s a cut-throat world but I’m sure the actors get paid most handsomely.

Game of Thrones by Drumond Art - Jon Snow
“You know nothing, Jon Snow.”

These mixed media illustrations and paintings by Drumond Art, based in Lisbon, Portugal, are both striking and diverse, sometimes whimsical but with a sense of foreboding that runs throughout the show. You can check out Drumond Art’s other works via Behance.

The stunning worlds of Studio Ghibli by lixiaoyaoii

The classic animated worlds of Studio Ghibli brought vividly to (still) life in a series of paintings by the artist lixiaoyaoii. I’ve been hooked on Studio Ghibli movies since first watching My Neighbour Totoro many years ago and travelling to the Cornerhouse in Manchester to catch new releases.

I can’t resist movie seasons featuring the classic Ghibli works like Porco Rosso, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Whisper Of The Heart and Nausicaä to the comparatively more recent movies like Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and From Up On Poppy Hill. These paintings have inspired to re-watch them all and acquire the most recent releases that have passed me by. Summer blockbusters come and go, these animated classics will remain forever young.

You can find more by lixiaoyaoii on Pixiv but the sign-up process is painful, so be warned.

Beautiful Star Wars pencil illustrations by Russell Walks

A series of classic Star Wars character portraits by the artist Russell Walks. We see so much Star Wars artwork these days that we often take for granted the time, effort and skill that goes into producing beautiful works of art. Be they digital works, drawings, paintings, sculptures, mixed media or napkin sketches sometimes it’s nice to stop and smell the roses.

These wonderful pencil drawings grabbed my attention straight away, almost a lost art in a digital world. Simple yet effective.
